James Russell Lowell, Verse 2

Last night we had an inch or so of snow followed by freezing rain (accompanied by thunder and lightning!) and then about 4" more snow.

Every pine and fir and hemlock
Wore ermine too dear for an earl,
And the poorest twig on the elm-tree
Was ridged inch-deep with pearl.

  1. What a lovely verse for a snowy, winter's day. Lovely pictures too!
